The U.S. Small Business Administration Georgia District Office recognized 19 small businesses during the SBA Emerging Leaders graduation ceremony on Oct. 31, 2016. The ceremony was held at the SBA District Office in downtown Atlanta.
Emerging Leaders is a federal training initiative that focuses on executives of businesses poised for growth in historically challenged communities. The course provides these executives with the organizational framework, resource network, and motivation required to build sustainable businesses and promote economic development within urban communities.
The six-month training program has a condensed, MBA-like curriculum that enhances the business savvy and confidence of the entrepreneur. As part of the curriculum, each participant must create a three-year strategic-growth-plan. The annual training initiative started with 20 participants and miraculously, only lost one student. This is the eighth year of the program in Atlanta.
